Sammie's neighbor

My neighbor in Nashville has an AG named Gabby so we compare stories when we see each other. This is one of the funniest bird stories I've heard.

Seems Gabby was adopted by Sue when her elderly owner was no longer able to care for her. And, we know AG's can and will learn by example and they ALWAYS give us away by repeating what we've done or said.

So, when Sue gets up in the morning and Gabby sees her, she gives out a big wolf whistle. When Sue's husband enters the room, Gabby lets loose with a huge farting sound! I guess the previous owner made it a part of his early morning routine.

Is this story funny or what? And, we've posted a picture of beautiful Gabby for your enjoyment.

What's this "we" thing? I didn't post any pictures. This is my blog after all and now, I'm expected to share it with another bird? Give me a break. I'm going on strike!

High Tech Paper Shredder

Maybe it's her nesting instinct? She loves to shred paper of any kind. She's had quite a field day with this magazine.

When Sammie grooms her under feathers, which are very light and wispy, she doesn't like them to land anywhere on her perch. She will quickly grab them and sling them but if they don't fly far enough away, she pounces on them, yelling and slings them again. Such an attitude.

I point this out because you can see from the picture that she has thrown the shredded pieces of the magazine away from it. I wonder if all AG's do this?

It's called being neat and organized, something "she" could learn something about. She just lives in her shreds and ignores them!

Missing in action

We apologize for our absence. I've been struggling with Migraine headaches caused by the barometric pressure here in Minnesota.

Sammie has been very demanding lately. I can't leave the flat without her throwing a fit. She wants to go with Diz and I to check the mail or carry down the trash so I struggle to lead the dog on her leash and carry the trash and lug her acrylic carrier. She speaks to the people she sees along the way, which surprises them and makes them laugh.

As I sit at the computer, she now wants to perch on my lap and watch me type. She also likes to grab paper and chew on it. I usually end up with a pile of shredded paper surrounding my feet!

In this picture, Sammie is checking to make sure I've cleaned her cage correctly.

Sammie says:

I'm gonna be nice to her today. She's been miserable lately. Don't expect it next time though!
