She's still a baby

When Sammie is feeling extra loving toward me, she reverts to her baby days when I was still hand feeding her. She grabs my thumb and index finger and nurses them. I've got to tell you that it melts my heart. She will also try to regurgitate on me, which is the deepest sign of love that a bird can show.

I have to be careful at times because she starts believing I'm her mate and well, there are certain things I just can't do and she gets all mean and bites when I can't. Don't take me there!

She either fell or jumped off her perch in the cage last night and the hub told me about it and I replied that she'd be fine, she could climb back up the ladder. Well, she didn't or couldn't so she spent the night on the bottom of her cage and can we say guilt very loudly? I'm sure she just perched on the bottom and I never heard her crying for me so I guess she was fine with it.

I did a brilliant thing. Got a new camera and exported all my pictures to the new program. Somehow, I deleted all of them. Gads. Where is my sister when I need her? As you can see, I'm not real good with the new camera and this shot is blurred but we'll get there.

How much do I weigh?

The Vet said to let her walk around for exercise but I'm telling ya, you have to watch her every single minute or she gets into all sorts of things, like the bathroom or kitchen cabinets. Loves to chew on wood. Not good.

I had to put everything above her level, like the woven basket in this shot. She jumped on the scale, being a typical female but her weight didn't register. She's too light. After this pic, she went for the caulking along the wall so I put her back on her perch.

I tell her, no, and she looks up at me and goes back to what she was doing. So, I tell her no again and she turned and said in a very loud voice, NO! The bird is sassing me now!

Dianne

The scale moans when she stands on it! I'm not sassing her, I'm expressing my independence!

I wonder why...

...Sammie doesn't eat when were gone? (unless she's with her sitters). She waits until we get home and dashes over to her feeding container and chows down. Maybe she sleeps in our absence?

Okay, I know--this is not the best picture in the world but I'm not my sister, who takes wonderful shots. Plus, it's difficult to take a pic of something acrylic with the flash on. But, beside the excuses, this is a shot of Sammie right after we returned home from shopping with her head buried in her food.

Dianne

Yoo-hoo-Auntie Linda, can you give this poor woman a lesson or something? It's not like I appreciate ugly pictures of myself on my own blog!

Chinese Splits?

Oh, the positions this bird can get into. I'm lucky to get a butt shot.

Sammie has been running me ragged. She has the door knocking down pat and I can't tell the difference between the real thing and her! I answer the door and surprise, no one is there. I'm sure she's chuckling to herself. We've had workmen in the flat so I don't want to mistakenly not answer just in case...

I've been listening to IL DIVO (be still my heart) and Sammie likes it. She was no doubt, helping them as she began singing opera along with them. Where did she learn that sound? Opera? I didn't laugh, which I really wanted to do, for fear she'd stop. She also lifts one leg and dances along to the music. She makes a sound, which is her version of clapping hands, keeping the beat.

Something scared her this morning and she flew into the bedroom. She was startled like, what was that? I didn't know I could do that! Vet says it's okay as long as she isn't flying into walls or the windows but if she does, clip-clip to the wings.

Dianne

Who knew I could fly? It was fun but a little scary. I was huffing & puffing! Must be out of shape. And, as far as being portly, I simply am a full-figured girl!
P.S. Don't tell her but it IS fun watching her run to answer the door. She needs the exercise!

Sammie's New Vet

I'm so happy to have found a wonderful doctor for Sammie. She told me things I never knew and now, she will be even more healthy with this new knowledge.

Seems though, she is "a little portly." Runs in this family! So, she is on a more strict diet and she has to kiss some of her treats good bye along with more exercise. I think chasing Daddy Dave on the floor would be great for her. Not sure he will agree to that.

I took my camera to capture shots of her with her new doctor.

Dianne

That woman touched me in places she never should have! Leave my butt alone, okay? Stuck som gadget down my throat, listened to my heart, rubbed her hands all over my body. I feel like I had my first sexual experience!

Merry Christmas!

I'm thinking of getting Sammie a See and Say toy for Christmas. Gabby's mom got her one and she's learning all of these cute animal sounds.

She's saying new words. The latest--"How ya doing, baby doll?" That melts my heart. And there's "Little Pooper" which I called a dog we had. "Give me a kiss...smooch." How could I resist? I always give her a big kiss when she asks for it.

She's still working on "Go Steelers." However, she just says, Go, and I repeat the word Steelers for her. After doing this about 10 times I get tired of it and stop repeating it so she then says in a very loud voice, COME ON! My question is: who is really being trained?

Dianne

Well, she let the cat out of the bag. I know what I'm getting for Christmas!

Sammie

We both wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
